Vegetables - Workshare Opportunities

Would you like to feel more involved in the project?
Do you have spare time but no spare money?
Then perhaps taking up a workshare with us could be the answer.
Read on to find out more...

Canalside Community Food recognises that some people would prefer to work in exchange for their weekly veg, rather than having to pay for it.  This could be because they do not have enough money or simply because they can afford the time to spare to come along to the farm for a few hours each week instead.

As such, we have 6 'workshare' placements available to anyone who wishes to work rather than pay for their veg.  How it works is like this: workshare volunteers choose to work either 3 or 4 hours per week in exchange for either a small or large veg share respectively.  Most workshare volunteers choose a day of the week they wish to come and work (either Tuesday afternoon, all day Wednesday or Saturday morning) and stick to that day each week.  In this way, the growers can plan their tasks based on the knowledge that they will have extra help at specific times.  If you can't stick to a specific day each week, then we can be flexible - all it takes is good communication between the workshare volunteers and ourselves and we can adapt to suit each other's needs.

We like to see these workshares as 2 way relationships - whilst we benefit from having some invaluable help in the fields on a regular basis, in return volunteers receive their share in the harvest, in the form of a weekly veg share, as well as hopefully learning new skills by working alongside our team of growers and gaining a deeper knowledge of and connection to the project.

So, if you feel you could make a regular commitment to our workshare team, or are simply interested in learning more about the way it all works, please contact Ali, who can tell you all you need to know.
